Terms of Service

Agreement

These Terms of Service constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Sonescent LLC, doing business as Sonescent ("Sonescent," "we," "us"), governing your use of all Sonescent software products (including Cartigraph, Sonescent Compressor, Sonescent EQ, Sonescent Multiband, Sonescent Transient Shaper, Sonescent Limiter, Sonescent De-Esser, Sonescent Gate, and Sonescent Clipper) and the sonescent.com website. By downloading, installing, activating, or purchasing the Software, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

License grant

Sonescent grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the purchased Software on up to three (3) computers that you own or control for your own personal and commercial music production and audio engineering work. This license does not transfer any ownership interest in the Software to you.

Trial license

Each Sonescent product is available as a free, full-featured 30-day trial for evaluation purposes only. The trial is tied to the computer it is started on, needs an internet connection to start and to check in periodically while it runs, and stops processing audio when it ends. After 30 days, a paid license is required to continue using the Software. A purchased license works without an internet connection once activated.

Restrictions

You may not:

• Copy, reproduce, distribute, or publicly display the Software
• Sell, resell, sublicense, rent, lease, or lend your license or the Software to any third party
• Share or transfer your license key
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software
• Modify, adapt, or create derivative works based on the Software
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices or branding in the Software
• Use the Software to develop a competing product
• Circumvent the license activation or seat-limit enforcement system

Activation and seat limits

Your license entitles you to activate the licensed product on up to three (3) machines simultaneously. Sonescent reserves the right to revoke a license found to be in violation of these Terms.

Payment and pricing

All purchases are processed by Paddle (Paddle.com Market Ltd), our payment provider and merchant of record. By completing a purchase, you also agree to Paddle's terms of service. Purchases made before September 2026 were processed by Lemon Squeezy, which remains the merchant of record for those transactions. The price displayed at the time of your purchase is final for that transaction.

Rent to own

Some products may be offered on a rent to own plan: a fixed number of monthly payments, billed by Paddle as a subscription, after which the license becomes a perpetual license identical to an outright purchase and the subscription ends automatically. While the plan is active the Software is licensed on the same terms as a purchased license, including the three-machine seat limit and free updates.

You may cancel a rent to own plan at any time through the link on your Paddle receipt. Access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for and then stops; the Software returns to its unlicensed state until the plan is resumed. Payments already made remain credited to you: if you start the plan again for the same product under the same email address, you continue from the payment you reached rather than from the beginning. Rent to own plans are not transferable and cannot be converted to a refund of earlier payments except as described in the Refund Policy.

Refunds

Purchases are covered by a 14-day money-back guarantee: you may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase, and the license is cancelled when a refund is issued, so its key can no longer be activated. Nothing in this section affects any statutory rights you may have under applicable consumer protection law.

Updates and versions

A license includes all updates to that product within the same major version (v1.x) at no additional charge. Future major versions may be offered as a separate purchase with upgrade pricing for existing license holders.

Intellectual property

The Software and all associated design and branding are the exclusive intellectual property of Sonescent, protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use Sonescent's trademarks or branding without prior written consent.

Disclaimer of warranties

The Software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Sonescent does not warrant that the Software will be error-free or uninterrupted. Your use of the Software is at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

Sonescent's total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for your license. Sonescent shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

Termination

Sonescent may terminate your license immediately if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the Software and delete all copies in your possession.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Multnomah County, Oregon.

Changes to these terms

Sonescent reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
